The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Wagely Bangladesh Limited signed a strategic partnership agreement, marking another significant milestone towards strengthening workforce development, financial wellbeing, and sustainable productivity within Bangladesh’s Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector.
Through this collaboration, BGMEA and Wagely will jointly implement a Training the Trainers (TTT) program designed to build factory-level training capacity and deliver financial literacy and soft skills training to approximately 50,000 garment workers across selected BGMEA member factories.
The initiative will initially engage 50 factories, where HR professionals, trainers, line supervisors, and factory representatives will be trained as certified trainers, enabling them to cascade knowledge within their own workplaces. The programme focuses on financial literacy, workplace communication, leadership, employee wellbeing, productivity enhancement, and continuous learning, creating a sustainable model for long-term workforce development.
The partnership agreement was signed in the presence of distinguished representatives from both organizations. Representing Wagely Bangladesh Limited were Syed Noor Elahi, Group Managing Director; SM Jamshed Hasan, Vice President; Azmee Kabir, Head of Sales; and Aditi Alam, Senior Manager – Business.
Representing BGMEA were Shehab Udduza Chowdhury, Vice President; Ahmed Jabed, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Skill Development Programme (SDP); Major Md. Saiful Islam (Retd.), Acting Secretary; Jannatul Baker Khan, Co-Chairman of the Standing Committee on SDP; and Saila Akther Nova, Deputy Secretary & Section Head, Skill Development Programme (SDP). Senior officials and members from both organizations were also present at the ceremony, reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing workforce development across the RMG sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Syed Noor Elahi, Group Managing Director of Wagely Bangladesh Limited, expressed his optimism about the partnership and stated that he is highly encouraged by the opportunity to collaborate with BGMEA in building a financially resilient, skilled, and future-ready workforce for Bangladesh’s RMG industry. He emphasized that Wagely looks forward to working closely with BGMEA and its member factories to create meaningful and measurable impact for workers through sustainable financial wellness and capacity-building initiatives.
In his remarks, Md. Shehab Udduza Chowdhury, Vice President of BGMEA, highlighted the importance of extending the initiative beyond large factories by incorporating small and medium-sized (SME) garment factories during the pilot phase. He emphasized that worker wellbeing must remain at the center of industry development and encouraged both organizations to explore additional development areas that can further improve workers’ financial resilience, workplace skills, productivity, and overall quality of life.
This partnership reflects the shared commitment of BGMEA and Wagely to developing a stronger, more productive, and financially empowered workforce while establishing a scalable and sustainable model for capacity building across Bangladesh’s garment industry.
