11 Organizations Honored for Textile Sector Contributions

In a prestigious ceremony held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) on February 27th, 11 prominent organizations were celebrated for their outstanding contributions to Bangladesh’s textile sector. The event, which marked National Textile Day, operated under the theme “A Country Rich in Smart Textiles – Bangabandhu’s Bangladesh,” aimed at acknowledging efforts to transform and revolutionize the textile industry.

The esteemed recipients of the awards included key players in the textile landscape, namely the Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Bangladesh Textile Mills Association, Bangladesh Specialized Textile Mills and Powerloom Industries Association, Bangladesh Cotton Association, Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association, Bangladesh Terry Towel and Linen Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Bangladesh Textile University, Bangladesh Garment Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Bangladesh Embroidery Manufacturers & Exporters Association, and Bangladesh Tanti Samiti.

The event was inaugurated by President Mohammed Shahabuddin, who commended the organizations for their pivotal roles in shaping the textile sector. Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Minister for Textiles and Jute, emphasized the integral role of the textile industry in the nation’s economy, society, and culture. Nanak remarked, “The textile sector is not only a key player in our economy but also significantly contributes to socio-economic development, poverty alleviation, women’s empowerment, and employment generation.”

Acknowledging the need for continuous collaboration and development, Nanak highlighted the Department of Textiles’ commitment to providing efficient services. “In addition to keeping the development of the sector dynamic in coordination with the stakeholders, the Department of Textiles is providing all the services of the sponsoring authorities at the fastest possible time through one-stop service,” he added.

The ceremony was attended by high-profile figures, including Secretary to the Ministry of Textiles and Jute Abdur Rouf, Director General of the Department of Textiles Md Nuruzzaman, and senior officials from the ministry. The recognition bestowed upon these organizations not only honors their past achievements but also catalyzes further advancements in the dynamic and crucial textile sector of Bangladesh.
