Two new factories in Bangladesh have achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), as reported by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
FASHION FLOOR BD LTD. and MNR sweaters have both received the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, recognising their efforts in sustainable manufacturing practices.
This brings the total number of green factories in the country to an impressive 275.
As per information from BGMEA former Director Mohiuddin Rubel-Two new LEED Certified Factories have been added. Bangladesh now has 275 LEED certified RMG factories, of which 116 are Platinum, and 140 are Gold rated. Additionally, Bangladesh now boasts 70 out of the top 100 Highest Rated LEED Factories in the world.
BGMEA former Director, Mohiuddin Rubel said, this historic achievement not only places Bangladesh firmly at the forefront of sustainable industrial practices globally but also underscores the RMG industry’s strategic shift toward green growth, energy efficiency, and environmentally responsible manufacturing.
“It highlights the visionary leadership and innovation of our entrepreneurs and reaffirms Bangladesh’s position as a responsible and future-ready sourcing destination,” said Rubel, also the additional managing director of Denim Expert Ltd.
The certification, awarded by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), highlights the companies’ commitment to reducing environmental impact through energy-efficient technologies, water conservation, and waste reduction.
