The exhibition offered attendees an immersive experience, spotlighting Anwar Textiles’ focus on innovation, trend forecasting and sustainable practices. From intricately woven fabrics to cutting-edge manufacturing processes, each exhibit encapsulated the company’s ethos of quality, creativity, and heritage.
During the mill week , Faizah Mehmood, the Deputy Managing Director of Anwar Group of Industries, stands as a leading force in driving dynamic leadership within Bangladesh’s textile manufacturing sector, talked with Textile Focus about the Mill week and upcoming plan to support the BD RMG sector.

This year, we structured the exhibition to ensure a more intuitive and immersive experience for our customers. Instead of traditional categorizations, we aligned our showcase to make it easier for buyers to discover products and to meet their specific needs. We introduced curated sections such as Luxury, Innovation, Fashion Forward, Kids’ Zone, Workwear, Formal Wear, and Comfortwear, alongside specialty product categories like premium stretch, specialized washes, sustainable fabrics, and our signature linen and tencel collections. Our extensive research into emerging color trends for the season and design directions allowed us to present our collection in a way that serves as inspirations for brands. Too often, mills rely on brands to dictate trends; we, however, are trying to shape a new narrative, one where collaboration defines the future of textile development.
Many of our customers may not be fully aware, but what truly sets Anwar Textile apart is our ability to provide everything under one roof. As a vertically integrated operation, we offer a complete solution, from spinning yarn to producing high-value finished fabrics. We specialize in yarn-dyed fabrics, operate one of the largest printing facilities in the country, and manufacture premium sewing threads. Further strengthening our capabilities, we recently inaugurated our linen spinning facility and addition to our cotton based plant, allowing us to provide dedicated support for high-quality linen products. This level of integration not only enhances efficiency but also enables us to offer greater flexibility.

Our goal for this season’s showcase was to highlight our unique strengths as a company, focusing on our core specialties—linen and linen blends, Tencel and Tencel blends, and structured fabrics. These offerings set us apart, and we wanted to ensure that our buyers could truly experience the depth and versatility of our collection. In our linen section alone, we have developed more than 250 fabric qualities, an achievement unmatched by any other mill. We have also been successful in experimenting with sustainable fibres such as jute, bamboo and hemp, all of which we are getting a very good response from our customers.
We have also strategically aligned our key fabric strengths in a way that is inherently sustainable. We are focusing on natural fibre, regenerated fibres and recycled fibres but additionally we are also focusing on the fabric production side as well. Compared to conventional cotton products, our linen and Tencel offerings require less water and energy, making them a smarter, more responsible choice for the future of textiles. By integrating sustainability into both raw material selection and production processes, we are ensuring that innovation and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.
Beyond fiber innovation, our focus has extended to fabric processing and finishing techniques, ensuring that each textile meets aesthetic and functional expectations. We have carefully integrated specialized finishes in every segment throughout our mill week, enhancing fabric properties to provide added value for customers. Some signature special finishes for this season at Hossain Dyeing are: rose petal finish, cozy finish, silky finish and crepe finish among many other functional finishes.
While our production capacity is not among the largest in the industry, we are strategically positioned with a monthly output of 3 million yards of fabric. This makes it imperative for us to carefully curate our customers and fabric offerings, ensuring that we focus on value-added products rather than competing solely on price with basic commodities. In today’s highly competitive market, where price wars dominate, our approach is to differentiate through specialized product development. Given the challenges of an increasingly saturated industry, it is important to tap into markets that offer room for growth and flexibility.

In today’s market, buyers continue to push for greater efficiency—sometimes to a point that feels almost impossible. We have taken it as an opportunity to invest heavily in R&D and explore new mechanisms in both operations and production. Especially given the ongoing challenges in utility support, innovation in our manufacturing processes has become more critical than ever. We welcome our customers to visit our factory and see firsthand the processes which are allowing us to stay efficient despite a lack of gas support, which is a problem for the entire industry. Our future plan revolves around strategic business development and penetrating untapped markets. Currently, Bangladesh’s textile and RMG sector faces intense competition and price pressure due to concentration in a few products. To mitigate this, we aim to diversify our market reach and product offerings. Consumer mindsets have evolved significantly since the inception of the garment industry in Bangladesh and we need to keep up with that.
