BGMEA has multiple audit teams on a surprise visit to factories and a surveillance program for health and safety. The audit teams are led by six BGMEA board of directors, and the results are reviewed regularly. 47 more factories were audited where conditions of 45 factories were found satisfactory. Including this, a total of 508 factories were audited and situation in 492 factories were found satisfactory. The other 16 factories which required improvements were suggested immediate corrective action plan to resume operations, otherwise will be reported to necessary authority.
Of the 2,274 members of BGMEA, a total of 1,061 factories resumed operation on a limited scale as of April 26. The teams of auditing have suddenly visited Dhaka Metropolitan factories, Savar, Ashulia and two areas of Gazipur. The checks are carried out for the identification of coronavirus without any cost by apparel employees. In addition, there will also be free access for staff from other industries to the COVID-19 study.
