4A Yarn Dyeing Ltd, the world’s first outwear manufacturing company joins the Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action convened by the UN Climate Change. By doing so, 4A Yarn Dyeing commits to 50% absolute reduction of GHG emissions by 2030 and aims to achieve net zero by 2050.

4A Yarn Dyeing Ltd is a concern of Team Group, a renowned conglomerate from Bangladesh specialized in apparel manufacturing.

The Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action recognizes the crucial role that fashion plays on both sides of the climate equation; as a contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, and as a sector with multiple opportunities to reduce emissions while contributing to sustainable development.

Aligned with the goals of the Paris Agreement, the Charter contains the vision for the industry to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 and defines issues that will be addressed by signatories, ranging from the selection of climate-friendly and sustainable materials to decarbonization of the production phase.

To make concrete progress on these commitments, several technical working groups have been established in which signatories work to define steps for implementation.

4A Yarn Dyeing Ltd becomes a member of Working Group-3 (Manufacturing/Energy) and Working Group-4 (Policy Engagement).

Abdullah Hil Rakib, Managing Director of Team Group and also a Director of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGMEA) said: “4A Yarn Dyeing Ltd is very much committed to sustainable production and it’s also one of the trendsetting companies in Bangladesh taking actions for low carbon apparel manufacturing. Bangladesh as you all know is one of the most vulnerable countries of the world to climate change. We joined the Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action as we want to be a part of the solution to global warming and climate change, and collaborate with other key stakeholders to succeed in combatting climate change.”

Lindita Xhaferi-Salihu, Sectors Engagement Lead of UN Climate Change, Global Climate Action, said “I congratulate 4A Yarn Dyeing Ltd for being a signatory of this important charter, which represents a unique commitment and collaboration from an array of fashion leaders. This charter aims to unite the fashion industry in important climate work.”

President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Faruque Hassan said “BGMEA is a Supporting Organization of Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action. Now the member factories of BGMEA are also coming forward to join the Charter is telltale evidence of Bangladesh apparel industry’s steady strides towards sustainability.”
