5th Academia-Industry-Nexus Session on Job Matching organized by Reed Consultancy & HELD, GIZ
After the registration process was completed, the session started with opening remarks by Laura Sophie Schnieders, Advisor, HELD. After opening remarks, Ashik Sarwar, Trainer and Coach, provided the keynote speech based on the issues, facts, statistics and focuses regarding job matching in Bangladesh. His keynote speech focused on three vital concerns such as skills mismatch, information mismatch and network mismatch to be mitigated through the active contribution of the governmental, industrial and academic authorities.
Then the group activity segment was initiated where three mixed teams were formed to work on short- and long-term measures to mitigate the skills, network and information mismatch. All the teams parallelly brainstormed, and discussed within the group, and afterwards, presented the findings with interactive presentations.

A panel discussion was organized afterwards where panellists were Dr. Eng. Ahmed Tanvir Anam, AGM, OD and Academic Collaboration, Corporate HR, DBL Group; Iffat Ara Ananya, Lecturer, Chair for Sustainability and Textile Innovation, Department of Textile Engineering, AUST; Mrittunjoy Kumar Mohanta, Assistant Director, Department of Textile; Ashfi Mosfiq, Senior Executive, Strategic HR, Urmi Group and Md. Ashiqur Rahaman, 3rd year Student, Department of Dyes and Chemical Engineering, BUTEX. The panelists discussed gap reduction in the supply and demand of the job market; issues regarding job interview and job offer mismatch; developing and matching the required qualifications; improvisation of academic curriculum and prospects of job matching in Bangladesh.
Finally, Mohammad Abbas Uddin, PhD, Chartered Fellow of Textile Institute, Bangladesh University of Textiles summarized the probable outcomes of the network session. In the end, Bikash Chandra Sarkar, Education and Youths Advisor, Higher Education and Leadership Development for Sustainable Textiles in Bangladesh (HELD) provided a speech with conclusion initiatives.
