The Textile Tech Association (TTA) was proud to announce a heartfelt ceremony bidding adieu to Professor Soniya Begum, former Principal of the Government College of Applied Human Science (GCAHS). A distinguished educator, visionary leader, and mentor to generations, Professor Soniya Begum’s departure marked the end of an era filled with dedication, excellence, and transformative leadership.

The Textile Tech Association is dedicated to empowering women in the garments and textile industry. Through skilis development, advocacy, and support programs, the association strives to create inclusive opportunities and foster leadership among women, driving positive change and sustainable growth within the industry.
This occasion honored a distinguished woman leader in the teaching sector, who played a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of professionals and retired after an impactful career.
Professor Soniya’s journey is not one of routine service-it is a story of transformation, empowerment, and resilience. A teacher by profession, a visionary by instinct, and a leader by example, she has ignited change wherever she stood.
In her tenure, Professor Soniya not only guided generations of students of whom are now leading professionals also uplifted the standards of women’s education across Bangladesh. Her passion for empowering young women through knowledge has turned classrooms into arenas of growth and possibility.

As the Textile Tech Association hosted a grand event at Begum Badrunnesa Government Girls’ College Auditorium, the community gathered to reflect on her journey through speeches, tributes, and the stories of those whose lives had been reshaped by her influence.
This tribute included:
- Speeches from prominent guests, including Ambassador Nasim Firdaus, Fashion Designer Bibi Russell, and BBGGC Principal Professor Tamanna Begum
- A biographical video presentation and heartfelt tributes from family, friends, colleagues, and former students
- Cultural performances, including group dance, Quran Tilawat, and Gita Path
- Presentation of gifts, crest and tokens of appreciation
- A closing address by Professor Soniya Begum herself
The Textile Tech Association invited all students, alumni, faculty, and well-wishers to join in honoring the profound legacy of Professor Soniya Begum and celebrating her contributions to education and the broader community.
