Desk Report: Abdullah Hil Rakib, Managing Director of Team Group and Director of BGMEA, has been awarded by Dhaka University Marketing Alumni Association (MAA) for his outstanding contribution to the country. The MAA organized this award ceremony on the occasion of celebrating its Silver Jubilee at the university.
The award is given to a total of 9 graduates, among the 47 batches so far passed from the Marketing Department of Dhaka University since its inception, for their role in nation-building and contribution to the national economy. Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni handed over the award to Mr. Rakib at the silver jubilee celebration ceremony.
After completing his graduation and Master in Marketing and Business Administration from Dhaka University, Mr. Rakib started Team Sourcing Co Ltd along with three manufacturing units. Over a decade his Team Group has become a leading RMG conglomerate of the country comprised of 6 apparel and backward linkage factories namely Brothers Fashion Limited, 4A Yarn Dying Limited, Gramtech Limited, South End Sweaters, Mars Stitch Limited and C.B.M. Limited.
Team Group is one of the trendsetters in sustainable apparel production and a forerunner in the green revolution having one LEED Gold-certified factory and two other concerns already registered in the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) for achieving LEED Platinum. He also established industries like pharmaceutical, real estate, information technology and retail; and Team Group created employment for a total of 15,800 people.
Mr Rakib served Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) as Director for two terms in 2013-15 and 2015-2017, and he is also an elected Director of the current BGMEA Board.
