Textile Focus: Could you please share with us the current scenario of the Textile Machinery Business?
Marco Salvadè: The textile machinery sector is currently in a phase of resilience and strategic evolution within a complex global macroeconomic landscape. For 2025, the value of Italian production as an estimated worth of about 2.1 billion euro. While overall production and exports have seen a recent downward trend, the industry remains a global leader with 86% of total sales realized in about 130 destination countries. Finishing machinery remains the leading category, representing 30% of total exports, followed by accessories at 23% and spinning machinery at 22%.
Textile Focus: How is ACIMIT working to boost the machinery business?
Marco Salvadè ACIMIT is dedicated to strengthening the global leadership of the Italian textile machinery industry through a focus on internationalization and innovation. We support our member companies by facilitating their presence in key global markets, which account for the vast majority of our sector’s sales. A core part of our strategy involves promoting the unique characteristics of Italian manufacturers: a highly skilled workforce, a quick response to customer needs facilitated by our companies’ specialized dimensions, and a high level of technological innovation driven by constant R&D. By encouraging close cooperation between our members and their customers, we help create new opportunities in high value-added market niches, such as technical textiles.
Textile Focus; What will you be presenting at Texprocess in April?
Marco Salvadè : At Texprocess, the focus for Italian manufacturers will be on showcasing the high technological level and the flexibility that distinguish our supply. Our members will present innovative solutions designed to meet the evolving needs of the global textile and apparel value chain, with a particular emphasis on digital integration and smart manufacturing. Given the strong performance of all categories, visitors can expect to see advanced systems that offer both high-quality production and resource efficiency. The objective is to demonstrate how Italian versatility and a commitment to R&D can provide customized, sustainable solutions for satisfying the specific requirements of every global customer.
Textile Focus; How do you see the Bangladesh market for ACIMIT members?
Marco Salvadè: Bangladesh is a leading and strategic market for the Italian textile machinery industry, and we pay great attention to its development. In 2025, Italian exports to Bangladesh amounted to 71 million euro, representing a significant 17% increase compared to the previous year. The market shows a strong and specific demand for high-quality technology: finishing machines are the most requested, accounting for 68% of total exports to the country, followed by knitting machinery at 13% and accessories at 9%. This positive trend indicates that Bangladeshi textile producers are increasingly investing in advanced Italian technology to enhance their production quality and competitiveness in the global market.
Textile Focus: . As President, what is your future plan?
Marco Salvadè : My primary goal as President is to ensure that Italian companies maintain their leading position in the world textile machinery industry by continuing to strengthen their vocation for innovation and internationalization. I plan to further support our members, mostly small-sized companies, in their deep commitment to R&D activities and in fostering close cooperation with end-users. By leveraging the expertise found in Italy’s ancient textile clusters, we will continue the constant technological upgrading of our machinery. My future plan involves guiding the sector toward a more sustainable and digitally integrated future, ensuring that the flexibility, versatility, and highquality of Italian machinery remain the global benchmark for meeting the needs of every customer.
