AIFT –BGMEA-SEIP holds orientation program

A discussion meeting was held on AIFT Orientation Program of various trainings on skill development in garment industry under the joint program of AIFT –BGMEA-SEIP on Saturday in Uttara of the capital. At this time, the joint secretary of the Ministry of Finance was present. Md. Sarwar Jahan, Bhuiya, Deputy Secretary, Anwarul Kabir, Chief Coordinator BGMEA AKM Mamunur Rashid, Job Coordinator Md: Asfakur Rahman Eng. Afsana Jahan Mim and Eng. Md. Ariful Islam.

The discussion meeting is implementing many projects on skill development in the garment industry. Among the projects undertaken by BGMEA-AIFT-SEIP for skill development, the SEIP project is the largest project, which is being run by the Ministry of Finance and BGMEA under the ADB-funded Apparel Institute of Fashion and Technology (AIFT).

Under this project, currently more than 80 training centers across the country are providing training to the people of different regions, especially the unemployed, and giving them jobs in various factories.

Apart from this, BGMEA is working on some other projects on Occupational Safety and Risk. BGMEA is implementing these projects with the support of development partners, local non-governmental organizations and industry academies.

BGMEA-SEIP Project is an initiative for skill development at mid-level and worker level in the RMG industry. It is jointly funded by Bangladesh Government, Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
