On May 26, 2024, a three-member delegation from AKH Group, a renowned Bangladeshi export-oriented garments manufacturer, visited the National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (NITER) campus to explore potential collaboration opportunities.

The AKH delegation comprised Aruna Wijerathne, Chief Human Resource Officer; Md. Rashed Khan, Sr. Manager (HRD); and Md. Rajib Hossain, Sr. Officer (HRD). The visit aimed to discuss possibilities of providing industrial visits, internships, and job opportunities for NITER students. The delegates also expressed interest in organizing workshops and seminars to help students develop job-ready skills.
Professor Dr. Mohammad Junaebur Rashid, Director of NITER, welcomed the delegates and emphasized his enthusiasm for fostering a strong and effective collaboration between industry and academia. Heads of the departments of Textile Engineering, Fashion Design and Apparel Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and the Convener of the Career and Internship Resource Initiative (CRIR) also participated in the meeting.
The delegates’ visit concluded with a tour of various laboratories at NITER, allowing them to gain firsthand experience with the institute’s facilities and resources. This visit signifies a promising step towards a collaborative partnership between AKH Group and NITER, potentially benefiting both students and the textile industry in Bangladesh.
