The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) has released the latest apparel export statistics for July- January in FY2022-23.
During this period, our overall apparel export increased by 14.31% to 27.41 billion dollars from 23.98 billion dollars in FY 2022-23.
The knitwear items export reached 14.96 billion dollars, while woven items become 12.45 billion dollars, both registering 12.70% and 16.30% growth respectively. So our growth in the woven sector is comparatively higher than the knitwear.
If we consider the single month, in January 2023 our export earnings were 4.42 billion dollars with 8.24% growth compared to the same month in 2022.
Mohiuddin Rubel Director BGMEA said,
Though we are maintaining over 4 billion dollars in export earnings for the last few months, there are so many challenges behind this strong performance. Because the global economic outlook indicates a slowdown in 2023 and globally the inflation hits the record. New orders also have fallen in most of our factories. So we need to prepare ourselves to face any kind of unprecedented situations in future.
