The Fifth Episode of the “Logic Presents Focus Talk” webinar titled “Automation and Digitalization in Textile Industry” was held on 12 February at 3.30-4.30 pm through Zoom Platform, where a good number of participants attended.

Abdullah Hil Rakib, Managing Director, Team Group & Director, BGMEA; Fakir Kamruzzaman Nahid, Managing Director, Fakir Fashion Ltd & Director BKMEA; K B Mamoor, Managing Director, Logic Software Ltd. were present as guests. Maeen Md Khairul Akter, Managing Editor of Textile Focus conducted the session.

The objective of this session was to discuss the impacts of industry 4.0 and digitalization technologies in the Bangladesh textile and apparel industry.

Mr Abdullah Hil Rakib stated that there is no way but to embrace the technologies and if we can manage it properly the benefits are endless. With automation, we now can appraise our workers better with more accurate data also industrial-scale traceability and transparency are major issues and the customers now can know where their clothes are made and what their conditions are. He also emphasized being sustainable in every sphere of our life as little contributions do add to the journey towards sustainability.

Mr Fakir Kamruzzaman Nahid also discussed their transformation in the last decade, and how they invested in technology and today they have an automated factory where all the real-time information is captured efficiently and represented in a simplified way enabling more efficient decision making. He said such technologies are a blessing for tom management as, without an ERP system, it is very difficult to get machine data and take prompt actions. He also emphasized technologies like machine learning, artificial intelligence, and business analytics and said, we need to carefully invest in such technologies to cater to more benefits in terms of cost reduction and operational efficiency.

Mr KB Mamoor, who is the Managing Director of Logic Software, discussed the avenues in terms of productivity, transparency, and operational efficiency. He also said they are working with new technologies like artificial intelligence and business analytics which will hit the market very soon. He also said that they have recently passed 12 years in this business and emphasized the scopes in automation and digitalization needs in the textile and RMG industry in the near future.
