Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector continues to solidify its position as a global leader in sustainable manufacturing with the addition of four newly LEED-certified factories. With these latest recognitions, the country now proudly hosts a total of 284 LEED-certified RMG factories, including 121 Platinum and 144 Gold-rated facilities.

Further reinforcing its global standing, Bangladesh now claims 52 of the world’s Top 100 highest-rated LEED-certified factories, underscoring the industry’s ongoing commitment to environmental excellence, energy efficiency, and responsible production practices.
The newly certified factories are:
- Pahartoli Textiles Limited, Unit-02, located at Ispahani Complex, North Pahartali, Chattogram, has achieved Platinum certification under LEED BD+C: New Construction v4, securing an impressive 86 points.
- Welldone Apparel Ltd, situated in Baraider Chala, Sreepur, Gazipur, has been awarded Gold certification under LEED O+M: Existing Buildings v4.1, with 75 points.
- Everbright Sweater Ltd., based in Kathgora, Zirabo, Ashulia, Savar, Dhaka, has earned Platinum certification under LEED O+M: Existing Buildings v4.1, with a score of 83 points.
- Siam Computerized Elastic Industries Ltd. – MUMTEX, located in Surabari, Gazipur, has secured Platinum certification under LEED O+M: Existing Buildings v4.1, with 84 points.
Commenting on the achievement, Mohiuddin Rubel, former Director of BGMEA, said the accomplishment demonstrates Bangladesh’s continued progress in adopting green technologies, enhancing energy efficiency, and advancing environmentally sustainable production systems across the RMG sector.
These achievements reflect Bangladesh’s continued investment in green technologies, resource efficiency, and sustainable infrastructure within the RMG sector. Industry leaders and manufacturers are increasingly prioritizing eco-friendly operations, aligning with global sustainability goals and buyer expectations.
The steady rise in LEED-certified factories not only enhances Bangladesh’s reputation as a responsible sourcing destination but also demonstrates the sector’s resilience and forward-thinking approach in a competitive global market.
