The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has welcomed the government’s decision to release Tk 2,500 crore in cash incentives against outstanding entitlements for the export-oriented ready-made garment (RMG) sector and related industries, confirmed BGMEA thru a press release today.

BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan expressed deep gratitude to the government’s top leadership, the Honorable Finance Minister, the Honorable Commerce Minister, and the Governor of Bangladesh Bank for taking this timely and crucial step during a critical period for the sector.
According to the president, as Eid-ul-Fitr approaches, garment factory owners are under significant pressure to pay workers’ salaries, bonuses, and utility bills. The disbursement of this fund has provided much-needed relief to industry owners.
The release follows persistent efforts by BGMEA’s current board, which held multiple fruitful discussions and meetings with the government, the Ministry of Finance, and Bangladesh Bank to expedite the pending cash incentives.
As per the finance ministry’s notification, the 2025-26 fiscal year’s third installment has been released in two phases: Tk 1,500 crore in the first phase and Tk 1,000 crore in the second phase, totaling Tk 2,500 crore.
BGMEA has requested its member companies to coordinate with their respective lending banks to ensure timely access to the funds.
