Bangladesh continues to solidify its position as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, largely driven by the ready-made garments (RMG) industry, which proudly promotes the global identity of “Made in Bangladesh.”

The RMG sector has become a lifeline of the national economy, contributing a significant share to the country’s export earnings. Key export destinations include the European Union (EU), the United States (US), and Canada.

According to recent data, Bangladesh’s RMG exports grew by 10.64% globally, reaching a total of USD 26.79 billion during the July–February period of FY25. This strong growth underscores the resilience and competitiveness of the industry amid global economic challenges.

Recently, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) urged international clothing retailers and brands to place more orders in Bangladesh, highlighting the country’s tariff advantages over competing nations in the US market.

Industry experts emphasize that to further increase export earnings and achieve higher order volumes, maintaining strict buyer compliance and audit standards is essential. Additionally, efficient airport cargo management and improved port communication systems are crucial to ensuring the timely shipment of goods and sustaining Bangladesh’s reputation as a reliable sourcing hub.
