Bangladesh showcases products at Fashion World Tokyo 2026

Bangladesh has mounted a significant presence at this year’s Fashion World Tokyo 2026 (Spring) trade fair, underway in Tokyo, Japan.

The fair commenced on Wednesday, 8 April, at Tokyo Big Sight, with Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Japan, Md Daud Ali, formally inaugurating the Bangladesh Pavilion in the South Hall.

Bangladesh’s ready-made garments and leather products have attracted considerable attention from Japanese buyers and visitors. Twenty-four Bangladeshi companies from the apparel and leather sectors are exhibiting at the event, supported financially by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), and occupying 26 stalls.

Following the inauguration, a ‘Bangladesh Seminar’—jointly organised by the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo and the Export Promotion Bureau—was held.

A dedicated session, ‘Bangladesh seminar on EPA and augmenting textile, leather products exports’, featured speakers including Kazuki Kataoka, JETRO Bangladesh Country Representative, and Tetsuro Kano, Global Operations Director of Sankei Co Ltd, who discussed strategies to boost Bangladesh’s exports to Japan.

In his closing remarks, Ambassador Daud Ali emphasised Bangladesh’s status as a global hub for sustainable, high-quality manufacturing. “Our ready-made garment factories are recognised among the world’s best green factories. We are now capable of producing customised garments, premium leather products, and environmentally friendly jute goods to meet the demands of Japanese consumers,” he said.

He noted that the forthcoming Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between Bangladesh and Japan would unlock new opportunities in bilateral trade. “We encourage Japanese business leaders to leverage Bangladesh’s manufacturing capacity and skilled workforce, and to engage more closely with our diverse product portfolio,” he added.

Fashion World Tokyo runs until 10 April.

A ‘Bangladesh Business Seminar’ will take place on 10 April at the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo, in partnership with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and the Export Promotion Bureau.
