Bangladesh’s Ready-Made Garment (RMG) industry is currently one of the world’s largest export-oriented sectors. Engr. Md. According to the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Malaysia’s apparel and clothing accessories industry recorded RM18.24 billion in total trade in 2025, marking an 8.3 percent increase from the previous year. Exports reached RM6.88 billion, underscoring the sector’s growing contribution to the country’s economy.
The industry’s positive momentum has continued into 2026. During the first five months of the year, apparel and clothing accessory exports rose by 27.8 percent, reflecting strengthening global demand for Malaysian made products amid shifting international supply chains.
