Globally we are passing a very hard time which was not observed in our lifetime ever. More or less every industry is suffering. The textile industry is the main earning source of Bangladesh’s economy and a large portion of our population is directly involved in this industry. Textile Focus editor M A Islam Riyadh talked to different businessmen, and stakeholders regarding their observation and planning during the pandemic situation. Key discussion points are mentioned individually-
I believe in transformation and I am quite sure it will happen in a positive way for our textile industries in Bangladesh

The COVID-19 pandemic definitely has slowed down the global economy and we have already started getting its adverse effect. But our industry already have a lots of learning from this and going forward if we can implement the learnings in our footsteps, we will start seeing the growth in the economy for sure. I believe in transformation and I am quite sure, it will happen in a positive way for our textile industries in Bangladesh. Digital platform is going to play a huge role and we have already started adopting it in the form of digital meetings, digital sample submission, digital approval etc. On top of this factories have already started working on increasing the efficiency level and also cutting down the overtime hours for workers. This is a real positive indication that our competitor countries are stronger. World politics will be also in our favour of us and we have to grab those opportunities at the right time. From now on we have to start switching our gears slowly to synthetic fibers, where we still participate on a very small scale. The next couple of months will be a tough time for our industry owners as they have to manage huge expenditures without any real income at all but if they can absorb this and keep patience till the year-end we will have huge growth in 2021. Our textile industries are doing lots of bio polishing in knits which generate lots of micro dust. Ultimately those micro dust creates lots of deceases to those people and now I think mask use in 100% case will ensure safety for all.
The year 2020 is deemed to be a game-changer in wake of this pandemic. The way of our approach to health, business, commute and every small detail will be reshaped, like after every pandemic in the past. The post-pandemic world will need a lot of collaboration from our countrymen to start from scratch.
