BCCCI urged increased Chinese investment and technology transfer in Bangladesh’s textile sector

The Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI) on April 27, 2026, urged increased Chinese investment and technology transfer in Bangladesh’s textile sector to boost competitiveness in high-value garment production. The call came during a meeting at the BCCCI office with a 20-member delegation from the China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC), China Dyeing and Printing Association (CDPA), and leading firms.

BCCCI President Mohd. Khorshed Alam said the meeting offered a valuable platform for dialogue and noted that over 40 local industrial units are facing financial and technical challenges. He stressed that upgrading existing factories through foreign collaboration would be more practical than setting up new ones, and encouraged joint ventures and partnerships.

Delegation leader Li Lingshen highlighted strong bilateral trade, noting China exports around $9 billion worth of fabrics to Bangladesh annually, and identified Bangladesh as a promising investment destination. Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in textiles through investment, technology transfer, and supply chain integration.

BCCCI was represented by its Honorable Secretary General Mr. Jamilur Rahman; Advisor to the President Mr. Harun Ar Rashid, Mr. Shahid Alam; Vice Presidents Mr. Khandaker Atiqur Rahman and Mr. Masud Ali Khan; Director (Public Relations) Mr. Md. Zinnatul Islam; Director Mr. Mohammad Amanur Rahman; Executive Director Mr. Md. Abu Taher; and other respected members of the Chamber as well as media persons
