BGMEA celebrates Bangabandhu’s birthday

Desk Report:  The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) celebrated the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman showing profound love and respect to the great leader. BGMEA organized a program at its headquarters in Uttara, Dhaka on March 17 in observance of Bangabandhu’s birthday and the National Children’s Day-2022.

A cake was cut and prizes were distributed among the meritorious students of BGMEA’s school, marking the occasion. BGMEA President Faruque Hassan chaired the program which was attended by Senior Vice President SM Mannan (Kochi), Vice President Shahidullah Azim, Directors Md. Khosru Chowdhury, Rajiv Chowdhury, and members of BGMEA. In his address BGMEA President Faruque Hassan said the vision of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was of a Bangladesh that was not only free politically, but also of a developed and prosperous a nation. “Though he could not realize his vision in his lifetime but left behind a legacy which is a great source of inspiration for us today and for the generations to come,” he said. “The “Sonar Bangla” as dreamt by Bangabandhu is now becoming a reality under the prudent and visionary leadership of his daughter, Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina,” he remarked.

The BGMEA President urged children and youths to follow the ideals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur for building a prosperous “Sonar Bangla”. BGMEA Senior Vice President SM Mannan (Kochi) recalled the eventful life of Bangabandhu who dedicated his entire life and made supreme sacrifices for protecting the interests of people. The world still remembers Bangabandhu Shiekh Mujibur Rahman for his dedication, struggle and sacrifices for the people of Bangladesh, he said adding that the next generations need to know the life and the dreams of Bangabandhu and follow his ideals. BGMEA Vice President Shahidullah Azim said Bangabandhu’s March 7 speech is etched in the history like the Gettysburg address of Abraham Lincoln, as the speech carried the hopes, aspirations and dreams of millions of people. He also said following the guided path of Bangabandhu, Bangladesh is moving ahead along the path of economic emancipation under the great leadership of his daughter, Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
