BGMEA delegation discussed with Italy Ambassador to boost High end apparel exports to Italy

A delegation from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) paid a courtesy call on the Italian Ambassador, Antonio Alessandro. The meeting, held at the Embassy of Italy, focused on exploring various opportunities to enhance trade and investment between Bangladesh and Italy.

The meeting aimed at exploring avenues for expanding trade and investment between Bangladesh and Italy.

The BGMEA side was represented by Vice President Vidiya Amrit Khan, Vice President Shehab Udduza Chowdhury, Director Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, M. Sajedul Karim, Chair of the Standing Committee on Trade Fair, and Masud Kabir, Chair of the Standing Committee on Press, Publication and Publicity.

From the embassy side, Donatella Di Virgilio, Trade Policy and Economics Attaché, was also present.

Discussions centered on boosting Bangladesh’s apparel exports to Italy, particularly in the high-end segment.

The discussion also covered exploring opportunities for Italian investment in Bangladesh’s non-cotton textile industry and other emerging sectors.

Both sides emphasized the importance of stronger business-to-business connections, especially through trade fairs and exhibitions.

The BGMEA delegation sought the embassy’s support in facilitating member participation in major trade fairs in Italy, which would help expand market share.

They discussed potential areas of collaboration in circularity and sustainability in Bangladesh.
