BGMEA golf tournament strengthens industry unity

The ‘BGMEA Open Golf Tournament 2026’ concluded at the Jalsiri Golf Club on Saturday (on April 25) which has brought together key stakeholders from Bangladesh’s apparel sector in a unique display of camaraderie and collaboration.

Organised by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, the tournament aimed to strengthen relationships among local manufacturers, global buyers and diplomatic representatives. The initiative, led by the BGMEA Board of Directors and supervised by its Sports Committee, highlighted the role of sports in fostering unity within the industry.

BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan attended as the chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners. Addressing participants, he described the event as a celebration of trust and enduring partnerships across the global apparel value chain, adding that such engagements reinforce Bangladesh’s competitive position in international markets.

BGMEA Director Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Director Faisal Samad, Director Mohammad Abdus Salam, Director Nafis-ud-Daula, Director Majumdar Arifur Rahman, Director Jowardar Mohammad Hosne Qamar Alam, Director Mohammad Sohel, and Director MD M. Mohiuddin Chowdhury were present. Mohammad Abdus Salam, director of BGMEA, gave a welcome address on the occasion.
This colorful event was held in collaboration with ‘Powered by A&E’, ‘KDS Accessories Limited’ as co-sponsor, ‘Argon Denims Limited’ and ‘Florence Group’ as souvenir partners, ‘Hurain HTF Limited’ as raffle draw partner and ‘Daur’ as kit partner.

The tournament attracted more than 80, including diplomats, international brand representatives and BGMEA members. Several board directors also took part, reflecting strong institutional support for the initiative.

In the competition, A.M. Mahmudur Rahman of Friends Stylewear Ltd. emerged as champion, while Shafiqul Islam of Arrival Fashion Ltd. secured the runner-up position. Other winners included A.L.M. Nishat Bin Zia for Best Gross and Mrs. Haijang of Dada Dhaka Ltd. in the ladies’ category.

The event concluded with a raffle draw and was supported by multiple corporate partners, underscoring growing industry engagement beyond traditional business platforms.
