A delegation from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) is leading Bangladesh’s participation in the Circular Textile Trade Mission to the Netherlands, being held from September 8-11 under the theme “Together for a Circular Fashion Tomorrow.”
The mission has been jointly organised by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Dhaka, in close collaboration with BGMEA. The mission aims to explore new opportunities for business, investment, and technology exchange in recycling, textile waste management, and advanced production processes to accelerate the transition towards a circular textile economy.
The BGMEA delegation is being led by Vice President Vidiya Amrit Khan and includes Directors Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Joarder Mohammed Hosne Quamar Alam, Asef Kamal Pasha, and Sakeef Ahmed Salam. They are accompanied by a group of leading manufacturers and recyclers from Bangladesh’s apparel and textile sector.
The trade mission holds special significance for Bangladesh as the industry is moving ahead with its ambition to adopt global best practices in circularity, embrace innovative technologies, and align with emerging sustainability requirements worldwide.
As part of the four-day programme, the delegation has taken part in high-level seminars on circular policies, funding mechanisms, and technologies. They also visited pioneering companies such as Brightfiber Inside, Wieland Textiles, SaXcell, and Frankenhuis, which are widely recognized for their breakthroughs in textile recycling and closed-loop systems.
The delegation further engaged with Saxion University of Applied Sciences’ Circular Textile Lab, gaining firsthand exposure to advanced prototyping facilities for recycled yarns and fabrics. The visit provided practical insights for applications in Bangladesh’s textile and apparel industry.
The delegation also attended Circular Textile Days, a prominent European platform where global brands, recyclers, innovators, and technology providers showcased solutions in circular design, traceability, and sustainable production. The event offered opportunities for networking, matchmaking, and presenting Bangladeshi innovations on an international stage.
BGMEA’s leadership in this mission reflects its commitment to sustainable manufacturing, outlined in its Sustainability Vision 2030, which prioritises circularity, emission reduction, and a transition towards a greener economy. Several leading Bangladeshi companies also took part in the mission, including Asian Apparels Limited, Circular Fashion Industries Limited, Cyclo, Desh Garments Limited, Evitex Dress Shirt Limited, Florence Group, Khetan Trading, Matin Spinning Mills PLC, Ocean Trade International, Recover, Recycle-Raw Limited, Saraz Fiber Tech Ltd, Setara Group, and Reverse Resources.
