The two-day “BGMEA Padel Cup 2025,” organised by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), concluded today (29 November 2025) with a grand closing and award ceremony at the Bashundhara Padel Tennis Ground in Dhaka. The tournament came to an exciting close with the semifinals and final matches. Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Honourable Advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, attended the event as the chief guest.
BGMEA Vice President Md. Rezwan Selim encouraged the players at the beginning of the event by being present on the ground. Also present on stage with the chief guest were BGMEA Board Members Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Mohammad Abdur Rahim, Asef Kamal Pasha, Mohammad Sohel, Sakif Ahmed Salam; BGMEA Sports Committee Chairman, Md. Sajjad Ali Khan and Co-Chairman M. Ishfaq Ahsan, among others. It is noteworthy that this two-day padel cup was organised for the first time by the BGMEA Board under the special initiative and supervision of BGMEA Director Shah Rayeed Chowdhury.
Members of BGMEA and their family members participated in two categories—Beginner and Advanced. BGMEA Directors Shah Raid Chowdhury, Nafis-Ud-Doula, Jowardar Mohammad Hosne Komar Alam, Asef Kamal Pasha, Mohammad Sohel, and Sakif Ahmed Salam also took part in the tournament. After the final matches of both categories, the Honourable Advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports handed over the prizes to the winners. He highly appreciated BGMEA’s initiative.
Tournament Results at a Glance
Beginner Category
- Team C emerged as champion in the Beginner group. The team members were Fahim Faisal, Director of Fahim Textile Mills Ltd., and family member Ahnanf Abtahi Amin.
- Team D became runner-up, represented by Wasif Ahmed Salam, Managing Director of Cottonex Fashions Ltd., and family member Rahabar Rehan Ahmed.
Advanced Category
- Team E became champion in the Advanced category, represented by family members Ahmed Al Salman of Jalal Hats & Apparels Ltd. and Nasaf Ahmed Nasir of Voyager Apparels Ltd.
- Team C finished as runner-up, represented by M. Ishfaq Ahsan, Director of Ahsan Apparels Ltd., and Aswad Ahnaf Khan, MTO of Graphics Textile Ltd.
A total of 19 teams participated, 11 in the Beginner category and 8 in the Advanced category.
In the closing speech, BGMEA Director Shah Raid Chowdhury said, “We are delighted to successfully organise this tournament for our industry members. The purpose of the BGMEA Padel Cup is to boost enthusiasm and strengthen mutual bonding among our members.”
