A seminar titled “The 15th Five-Year Plan and Joint Development of China–Bangladesh” was held on November 17 at the Apan Friendship Exchange Center in Dhaka.

Madam Chen Xu, Minister of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, attended the event as the chief guest.

Speaking at the seminar, BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan highlighted the strong potential for joint ventures between the two countries in the textile and apparel sectors, particularly in the areas of synthetic and functional textiles. He noted that Chinese investment in machinery, automation, and renewable energy is well aligned with Bangladesh’s development priorities and the strategic direction of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan.

He sought the support Minister Madam Chen Xu in securing a 3–5 year transitional period under China’s duty-free, quota-free market access scheme.
