Billion-Dollar Markets: 11 Countries Now Take Nearly 80% of Bangladesh’s RMG Exports

In the calendar year 2025, Bangladesh reached the $1 billion mark in RMG exports to 11 individual countries. During this period, our readymade garment exports were as follows: $1,180.93 million to Japan, $2,037.99 million to France, $4,669.60 million to Germany, $1,500.92 million to Italy, $2,108.12 million to the Netherlands, $1,774.34 million to Poland, $3,503.08 million to Spain, $7,541.98 million to the USA, $1,332.15 million to Canada, $4,395.21 million to the UK, and $985.91 million to Denmark, almost touching the billion dollar threshold.

Bangladesh’s total RMG export earnings for the same period stood at $38,824.70 million. Out of this, these 11 countries alone accounted for $31,030.22 million, representing 79.92% of our total exports. This clearly demonstrates how significant these markets are for us and, at the same time, how heavily we depend on them. It also underscores the pressing need to develop new markets for our RMG exports to ensure long-term resilience and reduce concentration risk.

Of these 11 countries, 10 belong to traditional markets, while only Japan is classified as a non-traditional market. This further highlights the need for strategic diversification beyond our conventional destinations.
