The Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) directly with TEXPROCIL (The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council of India), held today at Bharat Tex in Delhi. Under the MoU to strengthen Indo-Bangla textile trade. The MoU was signed by Mohammad Hatem, President of BKMEA, and Dr. Siddhartha Rajagopal, Executive Director of TEXPROCIL.
Bangladesh and India see huge prospects in enhancing bilateral trade, especially in the ready-made garment and textile sector through collaboration between the governments and business interactions between the traders of both countries, said Mohammad Hatem, President, BKMEA
“With a growing middle-class population, India is a highly potential market for Bangladesh’s RMG exports, and we have witnessed significant growth in recent times. Bangladesh is also a promising market for Indian cotton, man-made fibers, dyes, chemicals and other raw materials,” said Ehsan Fazlee Shamim, Executive President of BKMEA. “Hence, we see apparel and textile are a potential sector to complement each other and get reciprocal benefits,” he further commented.
BKMEA believes that initiatives provide valuable platforms for international collaboration, knowledge exchange, sustainable business practices, and the continued growth of Bangladesh’s knitwear and textile sector.
TEXPROCIL (The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council) is an autonomous, non-profit Indian organization established in 1954 to promote cotton textile exports globally. It acts as a bridge between international buyers and Indian suppliers.
