BKMEA Hosts High-Level Dinner in Honor of the Ambassador of Uzbekistan

BKMEA hosted a high-level dinner in honor of H.E. Sardor Rustambaev, Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to India. The event took place at Sheraton Dhaka on 25 November.

BKMEA President Mohammad Hatem warmly received the ambassador, officially opening a meaningful dialogue on expanding bilateral trade and collaboration. The gathering brought together business leaders and policymakers to explore new avenues for partnership, knowledge sharing, and investment between Bangladesh and Uzbekistan.

During the event, BKMEA Vice President Mohammad Rashed delivered a concise presentation outlining the current export–import landscape between the two countries. He highlighted the emerging opportunities and existing challenges in bilateral trade and emphasized the need for smoother trading procedures.

In his remarks, BKMEA President Mohammad Hatem described Uzbekistan as a promising business hub for Bangladeshi entrepreneurs. He urged the ambassador to take steps toward establishing Uzbekistan Embassy in Dhaka and to reopen direct air connectivity, which would significantly enhance bilateral engagement and mobility. Highlighting the potential for value-chain collaboration, he reaffirmed BKMEA’s willingness to support all forms of cooperation between the two nations.

He also encouraged the investors of Uzbekistan to explore various sectors in Bangladesh, reiterating that Bangladesh remains an attractive destination for foreign investment.

Ambassador Rustambaev, acknowledging Uzbekistan’s position as one of the world’s leading cotton exporters, noted that the country seeks to enhance its textile expertise. He expressed keen interest in deepening collaboration with Bangladesh’s textile sector and remarked that he should have visited earlier to tap into Bangladesh’s experience and strengths.

Deputy Governor of Bangladesh bank Md. Habibur Rahman, First Secretary of the high commission of Uzbekistan Abdul Aziz, FBCCI administrator Md. Abdur Rahim Khan, DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed, President of Bangladesh RMG Center and Uztextileprom advisor in Bangladesh Mr. Mehdi Mahbub, BKMEA Sr. Vice President Amal Podder, Vice-President (Finance) Md. Morshed Sarwar, Vice President Md. Shamsuzzaman, Director Mohammad Zakaria Wahid, Imran Kader Turjo, Minhazul Hoque, Executive director, marketing of Incepta Pharmaceuticals LTD Mr. Ehsan Aziz, BAYLA President Abrar Hossain Sayem and 1st Vice President Hasin Arman Ayon was present at the program.

The event concluded with BKMEA leaders expressing their sincere appreciation to Ambassador Rustambaev and reaffirming their commitment to promoting stronger bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and Uzbekistan.
