On December 4, BKMEA participated in a multi-stakeholder dialogue on Renewable Energy and Decarbonisation, organised by ETI Bangladesh. The event brought together industry associations, global brands, manufacturers, financial institutions, and renewable energy experts to discuss collaborative approaches for accelerating the sector’s shift toward cleaner energy.

As a guest speaker of the dialogue, BKMEA Director Mr. Minhazul Hoque highlighted the challenges faced by BKMEA member factories—particularly in ESG management, access to green financing, and energy scarcity affecting production. He stressed the significant costs associated with meeting ESG compliance requirements and underscored the need for a clear government roadmap to support a smooth transition to clean energy.
He further urged the government to ensure an uninterrupted and reasonably priced gas supply for the industry. Mr. Hoque also emphasised the importance of stronger collaboration between manufacturers and global brands to facilitate long-term investments, along with simplified and affordable financing mechanisms—especially for SMEs that face considerable barriers in adopting energy-efficient and renewable technologies.
