BKMEA Signed MoU with Four Member Factories for Sustainability Reporting

As part of its sustainability reporting initiative, BKMEA has signed MoU with four of its member factories. BKMEA President Mohammad Hatem was present at the signing ceremony.

The MoU was signed yesterday (29 December) at the BKMEA Dhaka office. The signatories included Md. Shamsuzzaman, Managing Director of A- One Polar Ltd and Vice President of BKMEA; Fakir Kamruzzaman Nahid, Managing Director of Fakir Fashion Ltd and Vice President of BKMEA; Shafiqur Rahman, Managing Director of Hams Garments Ltd; and Qudrat-e-Khoda, Director of Fatullah Apparels Limited. On behalf of BKMEA, the MoU was signed by Executive President Fazlee Shamim Ehsan.

Speaking at the event, BKMEA Executive President Fazlee Shamim Ehsan said that sustainability reporting has become essential for remaining competitive in the increasingly challenging global market. He emphasized the need for immediate preparation in this regard. BKMEA has already developed a pool of GRI-certified experts who will effort seamlessly with factories to implement sustainability reporting. The signing of today’s MoU marks a significant step forward in this process.

Under the MoU, sustainability reporting activities will be carried out in these member factories in line with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. The initiative will be funded by Solidaridad Network Asia, while Susnex will support BKMEA as the knowledge partner.

The event was attended by five of BKMEA’s six senior officials who hold GRI professional certification, along with senior representatives from the four participating factories.
