salauddinBangladesh textile garments industry has been suffering a lot during this pandemic situation. It has largely affected order decrease due to COVID-19 outbreak. Last year the industry survived with some good initiatives and government support. As the country is largely affected by the second wave of COVID now it’s really a very hard time for this industry. Recently the BGMEA election has been completed and new BGMEA committee with the leadership of Mr. Faruque Hassan has taken charge for 2021-2023. Textile Focus has been talking with BGMEA members’ company owners regarding the expectation from the new board. Mohammad Salauddin, Managing Director, Yara Knit Wear Ltd. expressed wish to the new BGMEA board.

As a member of BGMEA, firstly I congratulate the newly elected BGMEA board. In this pandemic situation when the government announced lockdown, this board cooperated with the government for factory opening with ensuring safety. I hope that our factory will always be open for any crisis moment. Day by day product price decreases hope that, new board will negotiate with the buyer to ensure the right product price.

Besides this board needs to work on Product diversification, value addition & generate a new market. Another issue, BGMEA will discuss with Bangladesh Bank to support bank loans with low interest for the survival of small & medium category garments factory.
