Living up to its promise to shake up the industry, the 2026 Bangladesh International Textile, Knitting and Garment Industry Exhibition, BTKG 2026, concluded its highly anticipated four-day run on May 2 at the International Convention City Bashundhara.
As the first edition, the exhibition successfully drew an impressive 31,719 textile professional buyers from 39 countries and regions, generating trade opportunities across 7 fully packed halls. With 900 global companies and brands showcasing their latest innovations, the event is positioning itself as a new powerhouse in the global textile and garment industry.
The resounding success of BTKG 2026 was driven by the collaborative leadership of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BKMEA) and Inforchain Digital Technology Co., Ltd. Together, they have reinforced this event’s position as a vital platform for
global enterprises to connect with Bangladesh’s dynamic textile factories.

At the heart of BTKG 2026 was a diverse display of industrial ingenuity. Leading international players provided a closer look at their newest product lineups while offering strategic perspectives on the competitive advantages and future trends they observe within the local market.
M. Farzad Shahabuddin, Director of PACIFIC RSF ASSOCIATES LTD, shared that PACIFIC has spent nearly four decades building a strong presence in the Bangladesh textile machinery industry. During BTKG 2026, KYANG YHE also connected with numerous buyers from across the industry, viewing the exhibition as an excellent platform to showcase its machinery and strengthen market presence.
These shares fully reflected the industry’s perspective, especially amid the current global economic uncertainty, as companies continued to express strong confidence and positive expectations toward the Bangladesh textile market.
During the opening ceremony, Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Minister of Commerce, Industries, and Textiles & Jute, also emphasized that the government would accelerate provisional approval systems, allowing investors to begin operations while permanent clearances are still being processed, further strengthening market confidence and investment momentum.
Seminar: The Next Chapter of Global Textiles
Alongside the exhibition, BTKG 2026 also hosted impactful concurrent seminars where industry experts and professionals shared timely market insights and practical knowledge essential for today’s textile industry.
- The session “Circular Fashion in Bangladesh: From Waste Crisis to Competitive Advantage” explored how sustainability and circular production models can shape the future of Bangladesh’s textile industry. Speakers also highlighted the global shift toward circular systems and emphasized the importance of stronger collaboration between academia and industry.
- During the seminar “Building Innovation Competitiveness for Reducing Cost and Increasing Value,” industry leaders discussed how process innovation, water-efficient manufacturing, and operational discipline are becoming essential for Bangladesh’s textile and apparel industry amid rising global costs and sustainability challenges. The session concluded that future competitiveness will rely on innovation-led and resource-efficient manufacturing strategies rather than traditional cost-based competition.
- Speakers at the seminar “Smart Wearable E-Textiles for Healthcare Monitoring” shared insights into the future applications of textiles, including personalized healthcare textiles, energy-autonomous wearables, and intelligent monitoring technologies. They noted that by 2035, the boundary between garments and devices may disappear, as wearable textiles could potentially understand personal health conditions even more comprehensively than traditional annual medical check-ups.
- A key panel discussion organized by BKMEA focused on “Geopolitical Conflicts and Global Supply Chain Disruptions: Impact on the RMG Industry.” The session addressed critical challenges, including order uncertainty, rising production costs, energy crisis, supply chain disruptions, and the growing importance of market diversification and long-term trade agreements.
Through these seminars, BTKG 2026 provided a valuable platform for industry leaders to exchange insights on sustainability, innovation, digital transformation, and global market challenges.
