Budget 2022-23: BGMEA urges continuation of 0.5% source tax

News Desk: BGMEA has urged the government to keep the source tax on export earning unchanged for at least next five years, BGMEA President, Faruque Hassan made the appaeal during a post-budget press conference at hotel westin in the capital. The press conference was hosted by Barrister Shehrin Salam Oishee,Director, BGMEA.

BGMEA President said, we hope the government will consider keeping the source tax in the garment industry at 0.5%. The industry will get relief in the current crisis if a 0.5% source tax on exports remains effective for the next five years,”

BGMEA President also said they want to achieve export target of US$45bn in the next FY 2022-23.

BGMEA demands 10 per cent cash incentive on the export of non-cotton products for the 2022-23 fiscal year to help achieve competitiveness in the global market.
