The Department of Textile Engineering at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), in association with the BUFT Textile Club, organized a seminar titled “Textile Fiber Processing: Man-Made (Polyester) and Bast Fibers” on 27 October 2025 at the BUFT Campus, Nishatnagar, Turag, Dhaka. The seminar aimed to enhance students’ knowledge of modern textile fiber processing techniques while promoting leadership, technical expertise, and research-oriented learning within the textile community.

Prof. Ms. Fu Jiajia from the College of Textile Science and Engineering, Jiangnan University, served as the keynote speaker. A distinguished researcher in sustainable fiber development and advanced textile materials, Professor Fu’s notable work includes innovations in bamboo fiber extraction, keratin fiber modification, and catalytic processes for water purification. She is also an editorial contributor to renowned journals such as Fibers and Polymers and Diamond and Related Materials, and recently participated in the Bangladesh-China Green Textile Expo 2025.
Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Acting Vice Chancellor of BUFT; Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Jalil, Dean of the Faculty of Textile Engineering; Ms. Farhana Afroz, Head of the Department of Textile Engineering; and Dr. Mohammad Raza Miah, Assistant Professor of the Department of Textile Engineering expressed their enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting its role in strengthening students’ technical understanding and global perspective in textile fiber processing. Faculty members and students attended the event, marking another step in BUFT’s ongoing commitment to advancing sustainable and innovative textile education.
