Students of the Department of Fashion Studies, BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) have brought pride to the university by securing Champion and Second Runner-Up positions in the Fashion Runway/Ramp Show segment of Texillence 3.0, a national-level event organized by the Southeast University Textile Club.
Fariha Yesmen Sadia (Batch- 231) emerged as the Champion, while K.M. Mynul Hasan (Batch- 231) secured the Second Runner-Up position in the competition, demonstrating their creativity, design thinking, craftsmanship, and ability to translate meaningful concepts into distinctive fashion expressions.
For the competition, which featured a 1990s-inspired theme, Fariha Yesmen Sadia presented her collection concept “Nomadic Bloom — Bold Botanical Appliqués Rooted in the Spirit of Boho Wanderlust.” Inspired by the nostalgia, simplicity, and free-spirited character of the 1990s, she incorporated Bangladesh’s traditional Kantha stitch as the primary craft technique. Through the intricate stitches, she sought to reinterpret the memories, emotions, and stories associated with a bygone era.
She further incorporated patchwork and hand-painting to capture the spontaneous, nature-inspired aesthetic of Boho art. By bringing together diverse textures, colours, botanical motifs, and handcrafted elements, her design created a contemporary interpretation where 1990s nostalgia, Bangladeshi craftsmanship, and the spirit of Boho wanderlust converged.
Meanwhile, K.M. Mynul Hasan presented a concept titled “Letter (চিঠি),” drawing inspiration from the emotional significance of handwritten letters during the pre-digital era. His design explored the memories, emotions, anticipation, and untold stories associated with letters, transforming these nostalgic elements into a distinctive fashion concept.
The achievement at Texillence 3.0 highlights the creative potential and design capabilities of BUFT students and reflects the university’s commitment to nurturing innovation, craftsmanship, artistic expression, and industry-oriented skills among future fashion professionals.
Representing BUFT at a national-level platform, both students demonstrated their ability to develop concept-driven designs and communicate meaningful narratives through fashion.
BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) congratulates Fariha Yesmen Sadia and K.M. Mynul Hasan on their outstanding achievements and wishes them continued success in their academic, creative, and professional journeys.
