BUFT Wins Best Poster Award at ICTSE 2026 with Innovative Sustainable Textile Research

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) has once again demonstrated its commitment to academic excellence and research innovation by securing the 1st Place Best Poster Award at the 4th International Conference on Textile Science and Engineering (ICTSE-2026), held on 20 June 2026 at the Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX).

The conference, organized by the Faculty of Textile Management and Business Studies, BUTEX, brought together leading academics, researchers, industry experts, and professionals from Bangladesh and abroad to exchange knowledge and showcase cutting-edge research in textile science and engineering.

The inaugural session was graced by Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Hoque Milon, MP, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Education, as the Chief Guest, while Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, attended as the Special Guest. The conference also featured distinguished international speaker Michiel Kokken, Head of Scientific and Regulatory Affairs at OFI, Netherlands.

BUFT’s award-winning research poster, titled “Eco-Friendly Dyeing and Functional Finishing of Cotton Fabric with Clitoria ternatea Extract: Role of Terminalia chebula and Chitosan in Enhancing Antimicrobial and UV Protective Properties,” was recognized for its innovative contribution to sustainable textile processing and environmentally friendly functional finishing technologies.

The prestigious award was presented during the closing and prize-giving ceremony by Prof. Dr. Engr. Md. Zulhash Uddin, Vice-Chancellor of BUTEX, in the presence of the conference’s distinguished guests, faculty deans, and keynote speakers.

The research was conducted by a dedicated team from the Department of Apparel Manufacturing and Technology (AMT), BUFT, comprising:

The conference organizers, including Prof. Dr. Md. Nurun Nabi, Conference Secretary, and Prof. Dr. Md. Ahashan Habib, Conference Organizing Chair, commended the research for its scientific quality and practical relevance in advancing sustainable textile innovation.
