BGMEA Vice President Ms. Vidiya Amrit Khan participated as a panelist in the high-level programme “Building Bangladesh a Trillion-Dollar Climate-Resilient Economy: Accelerating Climate Finance Mobilisation through Designing Strategic & Investment-Ready Climate Projects,” held on 6 August 2026 at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka.
During the panel discussion, Ms. Vidiya Amrit Khan highlighted the importance of accessible and affordable climate finance for Bangladesh’s RMG sector, particularly for SMEs, to enable investments in renewable energy, resource efficiency, decarbonisation and climate resilience.
She emphasised that stronger climate action requires practical, investment-ready solutions supported by appropriate financing, technical knowledge and collaboration among industry, financial institutions, development partners and policymakers.
The program featured high-level participation from Dr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Planning; Dr. Saimum Parvez, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister; Ms. Sarah Cooke, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh; and Ms. Carol Flore-Smereczniak, UN Resident Coordinator a.i. in Bangladesh, among other distinguished participants.
The program was organized by the International Climate Finance Cell (ICFC) of the Economic Relations Division (ERD), Ministry of Finance, under the Bangladesh Climate Development Partnership (BCDP), with technical support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Qingfeng Zhang, Country Director, ADB, joined as Special Guest, while Md. Shahriar Kader Siddiky, Secretary, ERD, chaired the program. BGMEA Secretary General Major General Dr. Md. Shahedul Islam (Retd.) and Mr. Sajjadul Alam, Senior Assistant Secretary also participated in the program.
