BYMPA Executive Council’s Installation Ceremony Held

The installation ceremony of the newly elected Executive Council (2024-26) of the Bangladesh Yarn Marketing Professionals Association (BYMPA) was held on September 6 at Hotel Sheraton in Dhaka, according to a press release. The event was attended by approximately 200 members from 70 spinning mills across the country.

BYMPA Executive Council

BYMPA, established in January 2005, is the largest platform for yarn marketing professionals in Bangladesh.

In his welcome speech, Ruhul Amin Ashiq, the newly elected General Secretary of BYMPA and Executive Director of Marketing & Business Development at Greentex Spinning (a concern of Getco Group), expressed his excitement about the future of BYMPA. “This is a historic day for BYMPA,” he said. “I am very pleased to join as a member and, in my new role, I will give my best support to the development of BYMPA. We will soon submit our registration application. I hope BYMPA members will continue contributing to the country’s economy.”

Newly elected BYMPA President ABM Sirajul Islam, Director of Marketing at Jamuna Spinning Mills Ltd., also addressed the attendees, saying, “The new Executive Council will use its collective wisdom, knowledge, and experience to advance the yarn sector by working closely with all its members. The new council will be fair, accountable, and will perform its duties with the utmost respect for all.”

Addressing the challenges in the yarn sector, Islam emphasized that cost remains a major issue, with significant quantities of yarn still being imported. He referenced data from the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), which shows that Bangladesh imported yarn worth USD 2.32 billion during the July-March period of FY 2022-23, up from USD 2.10 billion in the same period the previous fiscal year.

“We will collaborate with BTMA and BKMEA to address pricing concerns and secure financial support from banks,” Islam added. “This is a challenging time for the industry, with many RMG factories closing and the spinning sector facing business challenges.”

BYMPA plans to focus on skill development for its members to enable the Bangladeshi spinning sector to engage in direct business with other RMG-exporting countries.

Among the notable attendees were BYMPA Senior Vice President Abdul Shalik, Head of Marketing at Utah Spinning; Vice President Enayet Ullah, DGM at Youth Spinning; Kamruzzaman Masud, Head of Marketing at Badsha; Kazi Bazlur Rashid, Proprietor of Kazi Enterprise; Maksud Ritu, AGM at Prime; Pankaj Kanti Sarkar, Senior GM at Thermax; Mahfuj Hossain, GM at Asia Composite; Mohammad Shahjamal, Executive Director at Mosharraf Composite; Shafiqul Kadir, GM at NRG; Joint Secretary SK Munna, DGM at RN Spinning; Aminur Rahman, GM at Fariha Spinning; Mazharul Islam Milon, Head of Marketing at Sayed Spinning; Md.
