The National Council on Minimum Salary of Cambodia intends to raise the industry’s monthly minimum wage for clothing, footwear, and travel items starting in 2019. In light of the need for further internal deliberations, the council recently invited representatives of businesses and employees to submit their suggested prices for the negotiations.

The council also received information on current inflation, competition, and market conditions from the representatives of businesses and employees in addition to presenting critical statistical updates on socio-economic parameters to serve as the foundation for the minimum wage negotiations in 2023.

In this industry, the minimum monthly wage was raised from $192 in 2021 to $197 in 2022. However, employees were not given ancillary benefits like a $7 monthly housing and transportation allowance or a $10 monthly attendance bonus.
