China-Bangladesh ITTI 2024 forum held at BUFT

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) and China Textile Engineering Society (CTES) jointly hold ‘China-Bangladesh Industrial Development Forum on International Textile Technology Integration (ITTI) 2024’ at the auditorium of BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT), Nishatnagar, Turag, Dhaka on 23 April 2024. The theme of the forum was ‘Oriented towards technology, dedicated to the integration of quality and trade.’

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) and China Textile Engineering Society (CTES) jointly organized a conference.

The forum aims to establish a platform for international cooperation and exchange in the textile industry between China and Bangladesh, bringing together government wisdom, industrial strength, entrepreneurial talents, and academic resources, co-exploring new opportunities to cooperate in the textile industry of China-Bangladesh under “The Belt and Road Initiative” and fostering in-depth and integrated development for the two countries.

 There were some other sub-forums held on the same premises namely Sub forum1:China-Bangladesh Textile & Apparel Quality Control Exchange Conference, Sub forum2:Accurate Connection Conference of China-Bangladesh Textile Apparel Industry, and Sub forum3:China-Bangladesh International Textile Technology & Personnel Training Forum. Research institutions, colleges, and universities, industry associations, enterprises from Bangladesh attended the day-long forum.

Technology and talent cultivating high-tech modern textile technology, linking technological transformation and international talent exchange, presented by the representative of Donoghue University (DHU). Practice and reflection on joint cultivation of outstanding international textile youth talents, presented by the representative of BGMEA University of fashion and Technology (BUFT). Quality and standards, the role & value of new chemical fiber materials in the global textile industry chain, presented by the representative of a Chinese enterprise.

Exploring the construction of enterprise quality control laboratories to enhance quality supply chain management, presented by the representative of a Bangladeshi enterprise.

Under the International Textile Science & Technology (ATIST) Alliance Belt and Road a signing ceremony culminated with an agreement between BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) and China Textile Engineering Society (CTES)

At the event, Mr. Yang Xiaodong, Vice President of China National Garment Association (CNGA), speaks on how China and Bangladesh are building a “Belt and Road” for the development of textile and garment industry integration. Mr. Abdullah Hil Rakib, Vice President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) , Managing Director, Team delivered a speech on an Overview of Bangladesh’s textile and garment industry and the development trend of supply and demand,

Mr. Mike Ge, President of the Textile and Garment Branch of the Chinese Enterprises Association in Bangladesh, gave a presentation on Investment policies and development opportunities for Chinese enterprises in Bangladesh. Mr. Wang Xianfeng, Cultivate high-tech modern textile technology, link scientific and technological transformation and international talent exchanges, Vice Dean of the School of Textiles, Donghua University

Prof. Dr. Eng. Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor, BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) speaks on the practice and thinking of jointly cultivating outstanding young talents in international textiles. Mr. Xie Yueting, Chief Engineer of Xinxiang Chemical Fiber Co. Ltd. Delivered a speech on the role and value of new chemical fiber materials in the global textile industry chain. Kazi Md. Elias, Representative of DBL Group Testing Services Operations – COO talked about the role of Quality Control and Quality Assurance in developing the Textile and RMG sector: Bangladesh Perspective.                                                      

Delegates from China mentioned China and Bangladesh are time-tested friends with unwavering mutual trust and Bangladesh is the first South Asian country to join the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Over the past seven years, the BRI has taken root and blossomed in the golden Bay of Bengal. BRI proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping has changed the development landscape across the world and brought tangible benefits to the people of related countries.

 China has always extended its firm support to Bangladesh in safeguarding national sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. China-Bangladesh relations are based on mutual respect and win-win outcome. It finds its roots in the people and truly benefits the people.

China’s investment stock in Bangladesh has increased to nearly 1.4 billion USD. Approximately seven hundred Chinese companies are operating in Bangladesh. They have created over 5.5 lakh job opportunities for local people. China and Bangladesh are close partners for the joint development of mega projects like the Padma Multi-function Bridge and its rail link, the Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant, the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel under the Karnaphuli River, and many other mega projects that have been completed one after another, making significant contributions to improving the people’s livelihoods and upgrading infrastructure conditions in Bangladesh.

Speakers from Bangladesh showed gratitude to China and urged on the fact that the two countries should seize the historical opportunities of development, work on integrating development strategies, carry out Belt and Road cooperation targeting high-quality development, and exploit respective economic advantages to complement and supplement each other in the RMG sector, particularly in the fields of textile education. They expressed hope that China will extend a hand to provide an opportunity for Bangladeshi students to get entry into the Chines Textile Institute as well and Chinese experts should pay a visit to Bangladesh to enhance local expertise in the RMG sector.
