According to GACC, China’s cotton yarn imports increased by 66.24 percent year on year in May’21 to 168,700 tonne. Cotton yarn imports increased by 35.82 percent from January to May 2021, totaling 975,200 tonne. According to Apparel Resources, the increase in cotton yarn imports can be attributed to the revival of cotton textile and garment production and sales in China.
Cotton yarn traders in customs clearance zones in Guangdong, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang markets, on the other hand, say that quotations for cotton yarn sourced from India, Pakistan, and Vietnam are comparable to domestic cotton yarn prices of the same count and quality. The situation is complicated further by the fact that per tonne yarn prices are falling. Light textile market quotations in coastal areas are concentrated at US $ 3,937-3,984/tonne, while the price of C32 package bleached yarn in India and Pakistan reaches US $ 4,020-4,051/tonne.
