Chinese company Safety Garments will invest $12.25M in Mongla EPZ

Chinese company Safety Garments will invest $12.25 million in Bangladesh’s Mongla EPZ, an agreement signed with the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) on Monday (March 17).

With this investment, the Chinese company will build a high-quality garment factory in the EPZ. Reflective jackets, vests, T-shirts, fleece jackets and coveralls and safety helmets will be manufactured there. This factory will create employment opportunities for 1,616 Bangladeshi citizens.

BEPZA Member (Engineering and Investment Development-Additional Responsibilities) Imtiaz Hossain and Safety Garments Bangladesh Managing Director Shi Yan signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations at the BEPZA Executive Office in Dhaka in the presence of the organization’s Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman.

BEPZA Member (Finance) ANM Faizul Haque, Executive Director Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director Tajim-ur-Rahman and representatives of Safety Garments Bangladesh Company Limited were present at the time.

The Executive Chairman of BEPZA thanked Safety Garments for choosing Mongla EPZ as an investment destination. He highlighted BEPZA’s commitment to provide a safe and supportive environment for investors.

The executive chairman of BEPZA expressed hope that the company will give importance to environmental protection along with successfully operating its business in the EPZ.
