Chowdhury Mohammed Hanif Shoeb has been unanimously re-elected chairman of the Board of Directors of Citizens Bank PLC at the bank’s 49th board meeting.
Chowdhury, an entrepreneur with more than three decades of experience in Bangladesh’s textile and real estate sectors, is also chairman of Salma Group, according to a press release.
Under his leadership, Salma Group has expanded its operations across textiles, trading and real estate, with a focus on sustainable growth, modernisation, corporate governance and long-term value creation.
He also serves as a director of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) and is a lifetime member of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI).
His social and philanthropic activities include the Dabir Sohani Suraiya Foundation, a charitable initiative of Salma Group that provides financial assistance to underprivileged and meritorious students at the University of Dhaka and supports disadvantaged individuals and communities.
