Recently, Team Textile Focus had an insightful discussion with Md. Tahsin Azeem Sezan, Director of Classic Group, who shared valuable perspectives on the industry and the company’s journey. He explained that their business began in 1992 under the leadership of his father, and he now represents the second generation managing the company. Reflecting on current industry challenges, he noted that the garments sector is under considerable pressure, facing recurring obstacles such as the recent airport customs incident that resulted in substantial losses for the RMG industry. He emphasized the need for collective efforts to solve these issues and protect this vital sector, calling for stronger support from the government and the NBR in developing effective policies. He highlighted that the garments industry, being one of Bangladesh’s oldest and most impactful sectors, has long contributed to the national economy, and it is essential to ensure its continued progress. Tahsin Azeem Sezan also underscored the importance of encouraging new entrepreneurs to join the sector and stressed that they should receive full support in areas such as banking facilities, customs procedures, and policy frameworks to begin operations without difficulty. He expressed optimism about the involvement of the next generation, saying they are already inspired to enter the industry with fresh knowledge and skills that can further modernize the sector. He concluded with a hopeful vision for the future, expressing his desire to see more people join the industry and work toward taking Bangladesh’s RMG sector to greater heights, ultimately positioning it among the best in the world.
