To celebrate UNESCO’s recognition of Copenhagen as the global capital of architecture, the Embassy of Denmark organized a three-day exhibition from October 22–24 at Edge Gallery in Dhaka. This acknowledgement reflects Copenhagen’s rich architectural heritage, innovative urban development, environmental solutions, and high quality of life.

The exhibition was part of the Embassy’s flagship event, Greener Partnerships, which focused on the evolving business and investment landscape in Bangladesh, reducing food waste in agricultural economies, and advancing sustainable production practices.
Inaugurating the event, His Excellency Christian Brieg Møller, the Ambassador of Denmark to Bangladesh, stated, “Denmark is committed to supporting Bangladesh’s sustainable economic growth, especially through partnerships in renewable energy, shipping, and logistics. Bangladesh has immense potential, yet attracting foreign investors requires creating a favourable business environment.”
The first-panel session, Sustainable Investment in Building Bangladesh 2.0, featured discussions by experts from the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Maersk Group, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, and Copenhagen Offshore Partners. CPD’s Executive Director, Dr Fahmida Khatun, emphasized the need for “sustainable businesses that are commercially viable, with a clear transition plan away from fossil fuel subsidies towards an integrated development model driven by green investments.”
The second panel session on Sustainable Food Production and Effective Food Waste Reduction included representatives from the IFC, World Bank Group, Arla Foods Bangladesh, Square Group, and the Danish Embassy. Panelists discussed methods to raise awareness within the value chain and collaborate on reducing food waste and loss.
The event concluded with a third panel session on Sustainable Production, where industry experts from CPD, Better Work–ILO, Shasha Denims Ltd., Auko-Tex Group, and Bestseller discussed current challenges in positioning Bangladesh as a sustainable production hub and Denmark’s support in keeping the country competitive globally.
Denmark is actively working to bring modern technology and skills to Bangladesh, focusing on sustainable value chains, green infrastructure, reduced industrial carbon emissions, and fostering new sustainable investments. Ali Butt, Head of the Trade Council Division at the Danish Embassy, remarked, “The right blend of technology, knowledge exchange, and capacity-building drives new innovations. As a leader in green economic growth, Denmark is ready to be Bangladesh’s knowledge partner on the path to sustainable development.”
