In order to foster environmental and social responsibility in the supply chain, cotton Council International (CCI) is to use Sustainable Apparel Coalition’s tools series for the sustainability calculation of Higg Index. CCI will contribute both data and resources in its partnership with the SAC to support the Higg Index, which monitors sustainability results, and improves transparency and decision-making in the supply chain to increase quality and sustainability impacts. The Higg Index is an indicator-based tool suite that enables suppliers , manufacturers, brands, and retailers to assess materials , products, facilities, and processes based on environmental performance , social labour, and product design choices.
As the new SAC affiliate, CCI joins over 250 global brands, distributors, and manufacturers, as well as government, non-profit environmental organizations , and academic institutions that are collectively committed to enhancing the sustainability of the supply chain in the clothing , footwear, and textile industries.
