COTTON USA™ SUSTAINABILITY FORUM IN JAKARTA UNITES GLOBAL TEXTILE LEADERS TO CHAMPION U.S. COTTON

At the recent COTTON USA™ ️Sustainability Forum in Jakarta, Cotton Council International (CCI) revealed its 2023-24 Circularity Study results, showing U.S. cotton’s top-quality yarn strength, low fiber hairiness and excellent fabric quality, even when blended with recycled fibers. These findings, presented to about 220 key players from across the global textile and apparel supply chain, demonstrate U.S. cotton’s critical role in building a more sustainable, regenerative and circular future for the industry.

CCI’s Circularity Study tested yarns made with 20% post-consumer and 30% pre-consumer recycled content, blended with cotton from different origins. U.S. cotton’s superior performance strongly aligns it with the European Union’s Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles, which calls for textile products that are long-lasting, repairable and recyclable. The COTTON USA™ Sustainability Forum also featured 16 booths showcasing innovative U.S. cotton products from leading Indonesian and international manufacturers. Their displays highlighted U.S. cotton’s diverse applications in advancing circular product lifecycles, reinforcing its versatility and relevance in today’s sustainability-driven market. Exhibitors included: Dan Liris Group, PT Embee Plumbon Tekstil, PT Pan Brothers Tbk, Aditya Birla Yarn, PT Argo Manunggal Triasta, Duniatex Group, PT Lucky Print Abadi, PT Benang Citra Indonesia, PT Sekar Bengawan and PT Triputra Sandang Utama. The COTTON USA™ Sustainability Forum 2025 reaffirmed U.S. cotton’s role as a powerful asset for brands striving to meet global circularity goals without compromising performance, thanks to its durability, traceability and consistent quality. With a strong turnout and a vibrant mix of industry leaders, sourcing offices, mills, brands and sustainability experts, the event also confirmed its status as a key platform for education and collaboration toward a more responsible textile ecosystem.
