Crony Group pledge to make five of its factories ‘green’

Crony Group signs with 360° Total Solution Ltd for LEED certifications

Staff Correspondent: Crony Group is a 100% export-oriented garments manufacturing company. The group was established in 1994 with a vision to contribute towards the growth of Bangladesh as the second-largest textile industry in the world. Now they are going green. This group’s commitment to environmental sustainability is unprecedented and the entire group has decided to go for USGBC (LEED) certification.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony was held on 28 September at Abanti Colour Tex factory premises between Crony Group and 360 TSL Green Consultancy Services for USGBC (LEED) certifications.

BGMEA Director and Chairperson of Crony Group Neela Hosna Ara, former First Vice President of BKMEA and Managing Director of Crony Group AH Aslam Sunny, Directors of Crony Group Nafian Intasar and Nawshin Nawal, and Managing Director of 360 Total Solution Anata Ahmed were present at the signing ceremony.

Under the MoU, Crony Group has pledged to certify five of their factories under USGBC LEED. The projects list are as follows:

1. Crony Apparel Ltd. (3 Buildings, 3,86,030 Sqft.) 

2. Crony Textile Unit. (4 Buildings, 3,06,804 Sqft) 

3. Abanti Colour Tex Ltd. (9 Buildings, 7,51,137 Sqft)

4. Crony Sweaters Ltd. (1 Building, 146,261 Sqft)

5. Crony Printing & Embroidery Ltd. (1 Build. 83,949.52 Sqft)

Total: 18 Buildings consisting of 1,674,181 Sqft.

“Our employee’s experience is a top priority for us. Becoming LEED certified not only improves our energy efficiency and lowers our carbon footprint, but also creates a better environment for the Crony Family” said, Neela Hosna Ara, Chairman, of Crony Group.

“Now our country has the highest number of green factories so this initiative will help add value to our country’s branding”, added Neela Hosna Ara, Chairman, of Crony Group.

“Sustainability is more than green energy, it is a lifestyle. This initiative will make us sustainable in all our practices. After 28 years in the industry, it is now time for us to think about the next generations and how we can create a positive impact through our businesses”, said AH Aslam Sunny, Managing Director, Crony Group.

“We have already invested in 350 KW of renewable energy and pledge to have 1.5 MW of renewable energy across all units by 2025 added”, AH Aslam Sunny, Managing Director of Crony Group.

Bangladeshi Green Building Expert, Ananta Ahmed, Managing Director of 360 TSL, (LEED AP BD + C, LEED AP EB O + M & LEED AP ID, LEED AP HOMES, LEED AP ND), USGBC faculty said, “We are making history in the country as such a large group has decided to list 18 buildings to be green”

“We have already visited all of Crony Group’s factories and are confident that they will get LEED Platinum certification with our consultancy,” continued Bangladeshi green buildings consultant, Ananta Ahmed, Managing Director of 360 TSL, (LEED AP BD + C, LEED AP EB O + M & LEED AP ID+C, LEED AP HOMES, LEED AP ND), and USGBC faculty.

We at 360 TSL are very happy to announce that, 360 Total Solution Limited (The Leading Green Building and USGBC LEED Expert in Bangladesh) reached a new milestone in our Green Journey. We have consulted and are consulting on 170 projects with 92 companies and 42.5 million Sqft spaces, added Mr Ananta Ahmed.

According to the BGMEA, Bangladesh now has 172 LEED-certified RMG factories & 550+ in the pipeline.
